Windows 11 will be released on October 5th as a free upgrade to all Windows 10 devices, featuring a visual redesign as well as some new features. The Start Menu has a new look, as does the whole user interface with its rounded corners, along with an updated Snap Layout system to allow the user to structure your screen layout for maximum multitasking, while running multiple applications together
What this means for your business
This is considered a significant operating system upgrade to an existing workstation and will require CT to complete several compatibility checks to prevent potential disruption for users. To allow us to understand any risks and to plan for any upgrades, we have taken the decision to prevent all workstations from automatically receiving the Microsoft upgrade. The hardware requirements for Windows 11 are greater than Windows 10, meaning that some older generation devices may not be compatible to apply the upgrade. Microsoft have provided a device health check application to assist with identifying if an existing device meets these requirements.
How CT can help
CT have now integrated this application into our remote monitoring and management (RMM) tool. This will allow us to complete an audit of your workstations currently being monitored by our RMM tool and identify any that meet the requirements. Windows 10 will still be supported by Microsoft until 2025, so there is no immediate requirement to perform the upgrade.
